Keith Anthony Voiles of River Falls passed away peacefully and painlessly, surrounded by love on Friday, June 1, 2018 at United Hospital in St. Paul MN. He was 42. Keith was born March 25, 1976 in Camarillo, CA to parents Karl and Monica (Vober) Voiles. Keith would graduate high school from the Brussels American School in Belgium, and further his education at both UW River Falls and CVTC, earning his degree as an LPN. Keith was united in marriage to Laura Helgeson on August 11, 2001. Keith became a father to Jon on that day, and later to another son, Ben.

Keith will be remembered by many throughout the River Falls community from his time at the Lutheran Home, and Little Minds Learning Center. Keith was a gifted caregiver who found great joy in serving others, and great happiness in bringing smiles to kids’ faces. Keith relished the role of being the fun uncle. His sense of humor and pranking abilities are legendary amongst his family, and those blessed to call him a friend. Because he filled their time together with love and laughter, Keith’s passing leaves an ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Keith is survived by his children, Ben and Jon; his father, Karl of Portland, OR; his mother, Monica; his siblings, Krist (Jude), Marni Voiles, and Kyle (Julie); former spouse and loving friend, Laura – all of River Falls; his uncle, John Vober; his nieces and nephews, Alex, T.J., Amber, Nolan, Tyler, Gracie, Teddy, Lucy, Kayla, Jack, Emily, and Sam; his godchildren, T.J., Lucy, Kayla, Emily, and Teddy; as well as numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his best friend, John Leonard.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday evening, June 7th at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St in River Falls, followed by a Funeral Mass at 7:00pm. Rev Fr. Jerry Harris will officiate. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of River Falls. 715-425-5644

Keith's Tribute Wall

Tributes (4):

  • Keith, as well as the rest of his family, have been my ‘family away from family’ for many years now. Losing Keith is like losing my own brother, and I am deeply saddened by his early departure from this rock flying through space. He will be greatly missed, and the Universe will not be quite the same without him. Peace, my friend!!

  • Keith was the jokester and friend you knew was always there in school. Made us smile and laugh. TEC and school, sports and family gatherings. You all became a big part of our extended in family in Brussels, and for a life time. Thankful we’ve managed to stay connected via Fb and Christmas cards. We’ll miss his stories and antics, his smile and charm, and the light he brought the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Miss you and love you all. Hugs!

  • Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful memories you’ve shared with us! Keith was proud to have known you and I recall stories he shared of your friendship.

    Bless you,
    Marni
    (Keith’s sister)

  • I met Keith about 7 years ago and we became “long distance” friends. He would call the facility I worked at on a weekly basis, at first by requirements of the job. It grew from that to where we would talk on the phone for an hour or more at a time about jobs, friends, and family. I began calling him “my brother from another mother” and he would call me “the mayor”. His out going personality and his wit made him a great friend. I know he will be missed by many. I know I will miss him very much. My Prayers and thoughts go out to his family for their loss.
