Amil “Jack” Edgar Bowen, 87 of River Falls, WI died Saturday, June 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born in Eau Galle, WI on July 16, 1929, the son of Maynard and Vera (DeLong) Bowen.
He graduated from River Falls High School on May 28, 1948. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. He received training in the signal corp. and served as a cook on the island of Okinawa, Japan. He married Beverly Lucille Palmen on May 7, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN. During Jack’s working career he worked for Frank Brothers Elevator in Prescott and the River Falls Laundry as a garment delivery driver until it burned down. He then finished his career with G&K Linen Services of Minneapolis as a route delivery driver.

In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and he was an active member of the Apostolic Church in River Falls, serving as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, church treasurer, and he was a church board member. He also helped build the church and participated in many remodeling projects.

Jack was a member of the Castello-Madsen American Legion Post, Prescott, WI.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly of River Falls, WI, his children, Linda and her husband Steve Uhls, Ted and his wife Judy Bowen, Dennis and his wife Kim Bowen, Jim and his wife Barb Bowen, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister, Nona Stockwell; sisters-in-law, Helen Bowen and Gloria Laseter.
He is further survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Jack in death were his parents Maynard and Vera (DeLong) Bowen, brother Russell Bowen and three sisters Lila Stockwell, Verla Stockwell, and Luella Hautzinger.

Funeral services for Jack will be at 10:00am, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Apostolic Church, River Falls, WI. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN with full military honors. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home, River Falls, WI and for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Thursday.
