Edward Jacob Bauer, age 93 of Ellsworth, passed away September 24, 2019 at the Cerenity Care Center – Marian of St. Paul, MN. Edward was born February 13, 1926 in Hastings, MN to Nicholas and Margaret (Meier) Bauer. He was united in marriage to Lorene Mary Kapsner on May 25, 1953. Their marriage was blessed with seven children, and 66 years of love and devotion. Edward was a hard worker, and proudly farmed for most of his lifetime. He enjoyed driving tractor, restoring his antique Farmalls, and maintaining his farm equipment. Edward delighted in attending auctions and finding treasures, and was an avid coin collector. After retiring from farming, Edward enjoyed keeping up with the young ones while working at Arrow ABC Lumber Yard. Edward was a quiet, kind, and humble man, who set a great example of strength and hard work for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

 
Edward will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Lorene; children, Kathy (Mike) Ebert, Edward Jr. (Cathy) Bauer, Mary Bauer-Tassi (Glenn Tassi), Debby (Dana) Cain, Mark Bauer, Sandy Schwan, Caroline Bauer (Derick Jensen); 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Bauer; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Margaret Bauer; brothers, Christ, Fred, George, Frank, Gregory, and Martin Bauer; and sisters, Elizabeth Gergen, Gertrude Becker, Martha Schweich, and Agnes Duffing.  

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2019 at St. Francis Catholic Church, 231 W Woodworth St., Ellsworth, with Fr. Eric Dadson officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting with the services will be: Bryon McDonald, Brandon McDonald, Brent King, Ethan King, John Schwan, and Chris Ebert.

  • Ed worked for Arrow Building Center for about 10 years. I worked with and supervised Ed and he was such a kind and interesting person. We share the same birthday and was a special bond and even after he was done working with us we continued to meet on our birthday for “chicken”. He taught me many things and I wish the family my condolences. He will be missed.

  • Uncle Eddie was never much of a talker, but his smile and his twinkling eyes said a lot. Grateful for the memories of running around on the Plum City farm as a kid. Prayers to all of his family.
