Janet Marie Smithey, age 57 of River Falls WI, died on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Janet was born January 25, 1961 in Hudson WI to parents Jack Conrad Allee Jr. and Rita Jolene Salcido. Janet graduated from River Falls High School, and served in the United States Army. She would further her education at Red Wing Technical College, where she earned a degree in nursing. Janet was united in marriage to Bruce Smithey in 1988, and to this union, her son Michael was born.

Janet worked as a nurse for many years at the Prescott Nursing Home and the Lutheran Home in River Falls. Caring for others was a quality that Janet lived out her entire life, not only as a mother to Michael, but to the many of his friends. Janet also enjoyed motorcycle riding, as well as sewing, crafts, and beads. However, the role she cherished most was that of being a grandma. Janet adored her grandkids, and the time she spent with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Janet is survived by her son, Michael (Carissa) Smithey of Glenwood City; her grandchildren, Maximus Smithey and Mira Hutter; her mother, Rita Salcido; her siblings, Romona Allee, Thomas Bivens, and Kenneth Bivens; former spouse, Bruce Smithey; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Allee Jr.; and her grandparents.

To celebrate the life of Janet Smithey, a gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Word of Life Fellowship Church/Forest Hills Retreat Center, 2181 280th Street in rural Clear Lake WI. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home of River Falls WI. 715-425-5644
