John's Tribute Wall

Tributes (10):

  • John was my cousin. After his mother died, he and Dani and Diane would sometimes spend some time with us at the farm in Wanamingo. Now, many years later, as he became CSM he would say, “We’ve got to find some time to get together and discuss the differences and similarities between your war in Vietnam in 1968 and mine.” Well, like many things in life, now it will have to wait until later…. Rest well John, you will be missed..

  • We were very honored to say John was a very dear friend of ours, he is going to be missed very much by all that knew him he was a great man

  • I only had positive experiences with John. He was a great source of information when I came to State HQ as the ANG CCM. We had many interesting conversions about life in the fish bowl, but more importantly what we could do to grow our enlisted force. He was truly dedicated to his troops and always put their interests first. I am deeply saddened by his passing, but will hold on to our positive memories.

  • I was so very saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was an AWESOME person! I worked with John at the VA and I enjoyed the conversations we often had about life, family, and work. He will be missed immensely by many of his coworkers and he will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched! I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

  • John was a member of our family, He and his dad would come to Prentice, WI and go hunting when he was in teens. He has been with us many years hunting, fishing, camping. He was one great person and will always be in our hearts and lots of memories. Was with us this last Thanksgiving for hunting . Will miss him.

  • I am so saddened by this news. John was truly one of the good guys, and a friend and mentor to many. His ability to balance mission and soldier caring was remarkable. We in the military community have lost a friend and patriot. Rest easy CSM; we have the watch.

  • I’ll remember John as a incredible mentor. As our State Command Sergeant Major he took time to inspire, support, and encourage Soldiers. My condolences to his family.

  • What an amazing person. Great person to learn from and get advice from. He taught me so much. You were a huge asset to our organization. We will miss you. God bless you and your family always.
