Martha Wolfe, age 91, of River Falls and formerly of Durand, WI, died on Wednesday evening, December 26, 2018 at her home. Martha was born February 8, 1927 in Circle, MT to parents John and Agatha (Sonsalla) Rybarczyk. Martha earned her teacher’s degree after high school and taught in a one-room school house until she was united in marriage to Roman C. Wolfe on June 7, 1948 in Arcadia, WI. Their union in marriage was blessed with nine children.
Martha worked over 30 years for the Town of Durand as the town clerk, and as a poll worker. She kept busy raising chickens, farming, and gardening. After moving to River Falls in 2009, she joined the annual River Falls Garden Club, participating in the plant sale with her California Wonder peppers. Martha also enjoyed fishing, picnics, church fall festivals, playing cards, bingo, and scrabble. She loved flowers, dark chocolate with almonds, music, and singing in the choir at the Catholic Church in Wilson with Lois. Sunday nights began with “gourmet meals” with the Sowards, followed by “60 Minutes” at Mae’s house. Above all she looked forward to family gatherings. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

  • Condolences from California.
To all my “Wolfe” cousins and their children and their children, I was saddened to hear of the sudden loss of my auntie Martha. She was such a sweet lady, and I’ll never forget when I flew out to Wisconsin in 2014 with my mom (Martha’s sister Anne) – when we finally pulled up to the house, Martha was on the porch tippy-toeing because she was so excited to see her younger sister. I am so glad I was able to spend some time with her for a few days with my mom, after about 40 years since my previous trip to Wisconsin.
I also know how hard it is when a loss is so sudden and unexpected. I hope all your fond memories of Martha can help ease your sorrow at this time. Also, I hope the knowledge that she’s happy up in heaven with our Savior, and seeing Romy again, brings comfort to you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
    Much love,
    Margaret (Klement) Mallough

  • To Lois, Doug and Family: Even though we never met Lois’s mom we heard good things about her over the years. We are sorry we do not live closer as we would certainly attend the service. We hope and trust the God of all love, hope and blessing will touch each of you individually and collectively at this time.

  • Joni and Family,

I am so sorry to hear about the death of your mom. I was fortunate to have spent some time with her at her home a few times and at my house in Menomonie many years ago. She was a wonderful woman.

Joni and Meg, Monica were just talking about you both. We commented that we (individually) were just thinking about you both a few days ago. How ironic, and then we heard about your mom. I have searched you both on Facebook, and have googled Joni to try to get contact info. Meg, I didnt know your last name. I also was going to try to come to the service tomorrow, but my husband is in the hospital in Madison and I don’t think I can make it work. Anyway, I think of you often and would love to get contact info. You now have my email on here and my cell # is 715-505-1073. I would love to catch up sometime when it is convenient.

Anyway… I am thinking of you and your family during this time. You have made a big impact on my life and I care about you. I will keep you in my prayers during this time and always.

    With Love,
    Paula (Doty) Millar
