Frank Conrad Linn, beloved dad, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, age 44 of River Falls, WI, passed away January 27, 2021.  Frank was born February 20, 1976 in Fargo, ND to Peter and Marlene (Swenson) Linn.  He graduated from River Falls High School, with the Class of 1994.  Frank’s life was blessed with two beautiful children, Daniel and Isla, whom he loved with all of his heart.  Frank started his own business and was a very proud owner of Northstar Solar, LLC.

A true outdoorsman, Frank loved the peacefulness of being on the water fishing and in the woods hunting.  He enjoyed many fishing trips to Northern Canada and 30 years of the Minnesota fishing opener with his father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncles and cousins on Upper Red Lake.  He recently had the wonderful opportunity to join close friends on an Alaskan hunting excursion moose hunting near the Yukon.

Frank shared his passion for the great outdoors with his children; spending time with them, hiking, fishing, skiing, golfing and camping.  They especially enjoyed their trips to the North Shore on Lake Superior.  He was an amazing father to his children, loving them whole heartedly and sharing in great adventures, big and small.  He was proud to cheer them on and be their biggest fan.  Frank was an instrumental part of the River Falls Youth Hockey Association.  He generously contributed as a coach, board member and past president, touching the lives of so many hockey families.

A heart of gold, with incredible selflessness, always putting others first, Frank wanted nothing more than to truly care for those around him.  He will be lovingly remembered for his infectious smile and laugh that could light up any room.  Many hearts are broken with the loss of such an incredibly good and kind man, who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Frank will remain in the hearts of his son, Daniel and daughter, Isla and their mother, Megan (Brian) Cernohous; his parents, Peter and Marlene Linn; sister, Erin Linn; nephew, Quinton and niece, Callie; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and countless dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Alta Linn and Kenneth and Susan Swenson.

A Gathering for Family and Friends (masks and social distancing required) will take place 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E Division St., River Falls.  A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Pastor Scott Jensen officiating. The service will be livestreamed to https://www.youtube.com/saintbridget. Interment will take place at Kinnickinnic Cemetery.  Memorials for Frank may be directed to his children for a fund established at First National Bank of River Falls, 104 E Locust St., River Falls, WI 54022; phone 715-425-2401.

Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home of River Falls (715) 425-5644.  www.oconnellbenedict.com

  • Lois and I have the Linn family in our prayers. I knew Frank for many years, and he truly loved his community. He gave countless hours of his time to promote and support youth hockey, and also made sure there was time for us old guys to play too. I knew if I could just get the puck to the front of the net, Big Frank would be there to finish the play. He was a gentleman on the ice, he will be missed and always remembered. Rest in peace Frank. John & Lois.

  • So sorry for Frank’s friends and family, he was such a great guy and father, this is a big loss for the whole community of River Falls also, he was dedicated to making our community better and gave an amazing amount of time to the hockey association( especially for a guy who ran his own business). The world could use more guys like Frank Linn and I will never forget him. Thanks for the memories and keeping men’s league hockey going all those years, Joe Cardin.
