Janet Lynn Born, age 62 of River Falls, WI, died unexpectedly at her home on October 18, 2019. She was born June 25, 1957 in Milwaukee, WI to Orland and Floy (Swanson) Born. She graduated from River Falls High School, Class of 1975.

Janet attended UW-River Falls, where she earned her degree in Art Education. She continued her education at UW-Stout, where she completed her Master of Science in School Psychology and Special Education. She worked in numerous places throughout the country including Wadena, MN, Sheboygan, WI, El Paso, TX, Onalaska, WI and Prescott, WI. She retired from Prescott School District in November 2018.

Janet enjoyed traveling the world with her mother. They traveled to many exotic places, including China, India, Egypt, Iceland, Germany, the Galapagos Islands, Russia, Peru, Cuba, Mexico, and many others. Their last trip together was a three-week safari in southern Africa in the summer of 2016.

Janet also enjoyed gardening and decorating for the holidays. She was a member of Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls.

Janet is survived by her brother, Lee (Barbara) Born, nephew Travis (Nicole) Born, and niece Vanessa (Mark) Brotske, as well as cousins Alan Born, Roy Born, Susan Weber, John Weber, David Kringle, Linda (Kringle) Steffen, Steven Kringle, Mary Ann Sumstad-Murray, and Avis Jean “Jeanie” Sumstad. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orland and Floy Born.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 3:00 – 6:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2019 at the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home, 225 S. 3rd Street in River Falls, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Janet can be made to the River Falls Garden Club, 1398 Halo Dr., River Falls, WI 54022
