In Memory of Gerald L. "Jerry" Nicholson

A private family gathering will be held in his honor

Gerald Lee Nicholson, 74, passed away from complications of cancer on Sunday, May 17 at St. John’s Hospital.

Jerry was born on December 7, 1945 in River Falls, WI, the son of Merle and Pearl Nicholson. After graduating from River Falls High School in 1964 he worked in his home town until he was drafted into the Army in October, 1965. After serving in Vietnam, he received training as an electrical lineman and worked for River Falls Municipal Utilities.

On May 15, 1971, Jerry married LaJean Wussler. Together they raised three children, Scott, Mark, and Joy. In 2000, after 31 years as a lineman, Jerry and LaJean retired to Jellystone Park in Warrens, WI and Apache Junction, AZ. After the birth of their first granddaughter they moved back permanently to Ellsworth, WI. Jerry was most fond of traveling, camping, spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, and family reunions with his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Blackburn, and brothers Joseph Nicholson and Robert Nicholson.

Jerry is survived by his wife LaJean of 49 years, three children; Scott (Amy) Nicholson of River Falls, Mark (Kristin White) Nicholson of Minneapolis, MN, Joy (Patrick) Ptacek of Prescott, WI; his four granddaughters, Alex, Reese, Natalie and Zoe; his brothers Ted Nicholson of River Falls, William (Virginia) Nicholson of Bloomer, WI, and sister Dorothy (George) Frazer of Hudson, WI and many other relatives and friends.

Jerry’s family would like to thank Dr. Tashjian and the staff at Vibrant Health Family Clinics Ellsworth as well as the staff at St. John’s Hospital for their care of him over the past nine months.

A private family gathering will be held in his honor.
