John Daniel “Jack” Linehan, age 72 of River Falls, WI, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on June 1, 2020.  Jack was born October 17, 1947 in River Falls, WI to John E. and Genevieve (Schommer) Linehan.  He graduated from River Falls High School, with the Class of 1965. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Jack proudly served his country in the National Guard.  He was united in marriage to Susan Ann Ingalls on June 26, 1970.  Their marriage was blessed with four children, Heather, John, Paula, and James.  Jack was a devoted family man, who remained busy raising and providing for his family.  He operated his own business, Home Appliance and TV for over 40 years.

Jack loved watching sports, and was an avid MN sports enthusiast.  He enjoyed the last 6 winters in Arizona with his wife, golfing and taking in the sunshine.  He treasured his time with family and friends.  Jack had a great sense of humor, and delighted in filling the room with laughter, especially when it came to his grandchildren.   He was a faithful in donating blood, and was a lifelong member of St. Bridget Catholic Church.  Jack leaves behind a great example of hard work, selfless caring for others, and love for his family.

Jack will remain in the hearts of his loving wife of 50 years, Susan; children, Heather Linehan of St. Paul, MN, John (Stephanie) Linehan of River Falls, Paula (Chad) Mulhollam of River Falls, and James Linehan of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Luke and Ashley Linehan, Harper and Declan Mulhollam; sister, Kathleen Linehan-Purfeerst of New Richmond, WI; sisters-in-law, Sandy Linehan and Betty (Telford) Norvold; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Henry.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Genevieve Linehan; his brother, Timothy Linehan; mother and father-in-law Gladys and Walter Ingalls; and brother-in-law, Lawrence “Bernie” Purfeest.

Mass of Christian Burial for Jack will take place 11:00 am Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., River Falls, with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating.  A visitation (Respecting social distancing and encouraging the use of masks) will take place beginning at 9:00 am until the start of Mass at church.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be:  Ryan Purfeerst, Mike Purfeerst, Dennis Early, Mike Danielson, Mike Reis, Ed Vlack, Dan Filkens, and Lonnie Bottolfson.   Private interment will take place at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to the discretion of Jack’s family.

Jack’s family appreciates the support and caring of family and friends that would like to attend his visitation and funeral Mass.  However, they understand that not everyone feels comfortable attending due to the COVID-19 outbreak and health risks.  Sue and family would find comfort in a phone call or visit in the weeks after Jack’s funeral.

Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of River Falls (715) 425-5644.
