Steven Thomas Weber, age 56 of River Falls, WI, died on Friday, August 7, 2020. Steve was on his way to Sturgis, a motorcycle ride which he loved and looked forward to every year, when he was struck and killed by an oncoming motor vehicle in western Minnesota.

Steve was born February 23, 1964 in Cudahy, WI to parents Thomas and Sharon (Fortier) Weber. He grew up in the South Milwaukee area, attending Blakewood Elementary School, and graduating from Franklin High School with the Class of 1982. Steve furthered his education at UW Platteville and UW Stout, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and later earned a second Bachelor’s degree in I.T. from UW LaCrosse. By profession, Steve was in I.T., but he really was a jack of all trades. He excelled in carpentry, woodworking and mechanics, learning these skills from his father, grandfather and mentor, Fred Weimer. When presented with a potential project idea, Steve would figure out how to get it done, and would do it. He loved YouTube – he said there was a video to teach you how to do anything on YouTube.

Steve’s superpower came from his dimples, and when he used them Julie could deny him nothing. Most of all, Steve loved and was proud of his children. He’d always stop anything he was doing whenever one of his children wanted to talk to him or needed help with something. He even shared his love of popcorn with his children. Steve was patient and kind with his children, and told them regularly that he loved them. Steve was an amazing husband, son, brother and friend, and the world was a better place with him in it, and is less bright without him. Steve’s life was so much more than what can be written in a few sentences. He was so loved, and he gave of himself and his love to those around him.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Julie; his children, Daniel, Brian, Miranda, and Ellianna; his parents, Thomas and Sharon Weber; his sisters, Donna (Thomas) Adank, and Anne (Douglas) Claflin; nieces and nephews, Eric (Autumn) Adank, Laura Adank, and Jonathon Adank; mother-in-law, Wanda Smith; and numerous friends.

To celebrate the life of Steve Weber, a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the Abundant Life Church, 896 State Road 65, River Falls, WI 54022, with Pastor Kevin Humphrey officiating. The memorial service will be live streamed on the Abundant Life Church Facebook page.  Visitation will be held at the church, beginning at 1:00pm. Guests are encouraged to be respectful of mask and social distancing guidelines.  Following services, Steve will be brought to his final place of rest at the Poplar Hill Cemetery in Rock Elm, WI. Steve was an annual participant for the River Falls Cruisin for a Cause, memorials honoring him may be directed to this year’s recipient,  The Rhino’s Foundation – rhinosfoundation.org/donate.

Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of River Falls, WI. 715-425-5644 www.oconnellbenedict.com

  • I was so shocked and sorry to hear about Steve. He and I went back a long way. He started working for me when he was a high school student and I was his teacher at Franklin High School. His ability to understand and apply the computer concepts made him an excellent candidate to work the summers in my mobile arcade business. He was a natural at accessing problems and finding solutions. During his college years he became the manager of a route that traveled to many fairs in Michigan. I always knew that I could depend on him to be in charge of that part of my business. As years went on and our paths did not cross as often, Steve would contact me and update me as to what he was doing. I was so happy to see him when he would stop by the Burlington Chocolate Fest the last couple of years. We enjoyed reminiscing about our times together during the 1980’s. He will missed by everyone who knew him. I know I will greatly miss him.

  • From Aunt Jane and all the Weber’s in Milwaukee, we pray for all his family and loved ones. No family should have to experience such a loss. He will be joining an amazing group of family members who have passed. Know he will be guided with their love. 😇

  • Weber family,

I came across the accident immediately after it occurred. I ran to the scene and was on the phone with 911 until they arrived. Please know that although Steve passed away far from home, in an unfamiliar community, he wasn’t alone. Steve changed my life and has left an everlasting impact on who I am. He sounded like an incredible man. It would have been an honor to cross paths under different circumstances.

Sending you tremendous love and comfort.
